(King) Charles in Charge
Buckingham Palace PR Paints a Drastically Different Picture from Kensington Palace
Let’s just say it. King Charles is unpopular. He had the misfortune of being the longest Prince of Wales ever—which seemingly requires a lot of waiting for your mother’s death before you get a job (morbid, but true). The rest of it is trying to keep yourself occupied without stepping a foot out of line (ie: Black Spider Memos) and very publicly cheating on your wife—lovingly nicknamed the People’s Princess. Charles bungled them both and even the last few years of softer coverage on him and Queen Camilla cannot undo the damage.
I bring this up not to rag on the guy, I actually think he probably doesn’t get enough credit. But the point is that Charles is not popular, especially on social media.
So how did he escape being “bullied” and “harassed endlessly to reveal private info” on social media like Catherine, the Princess of Wales? If there’s a fear foreign adversaries were behind some of the conspiracy theories on Twitter about Kate to destabilize the U.K., why wouldn’t they target the guy at the top? (I debunk this in a recent video.)
