The Glaring Oversights in Catherine, Princess of Wales' Health Update Video

KP Comms has shown some improvement, but they're still fumbling simple plays

On Monday, news that Catherine, Princess of Wales had completed chemotherapy dropped on the IG account shared by the Prince and Princess of Wales. I have to admit, I was taken by the bucolic setting, The Wales’ enjoying the waning weeks of summer in Norfolk, George asking if the camera is on, the many shots of Kate’s ring finger resplendent with several bands, including her new eternity ring (Recall, the absence of her engagement ring, famously owned by her late MIL, spoke volumes in that Mothering Sunday photo debacle.) Kate’s voice floating over b-roll of family card games, unexpected cuddle sessions with a noticeably uncomfortable Prince William as the strings swelled along with the announcement of her completion of chemotherapy and focus on staying cancer free.

But don’t say she’s cancer-free.

This sounds a lot like Princess Anne has injuries consistent with a horse head or leg, but it may not be a horse.

While Kensington Palace clearly learned some lessons from their botched Comms. response starting back in Jan. 2024, they still have a ways to go. While the Princess of Wales clearly states that she has ‘finally completed her chemotherapy treatment’, the line about doing what she can to stay ‘cancer-free’ has people confused, including people on the royal beat.

I am loathe to agree with Palmer, but it isn’t clear! Was this a KP screw-up or were there briefing notes that could have solved this mystery before it became a tweet off between two royal reporters? (I can’t explain it, but tweeting in this manner feels like when someone CC’s everyone on an email.)

Naturally, I decided to find out.
